October/Fall Lawn Care Tips

As Fall begins in the Florida Panhandle, here are a few lawn care tips. Check the HGTV.com” How To” list of Fall Lawn Care tips, as well as those I’ve included here.
- Fertilize cool-season lawns early in the month — but only if you didn’t do it last month.
- Keep mowing as long as grass keeps growing.
- Deal with fall weeds, such as annual bluegrass and hen-bit, by applying a preemergent herbicide. Don’t use a preemergent, if you’re planning to seed or overseed your lawn.
- Overseed warm-season turf, such as Bermuda, zoysia, or centipede grass, with annual ryegrass to keep a green lawn through winter.
As a native Floridian, I will be happy to give you additional lawn care tips or guide you to other local professionals, such as those at B & C Nursery, to help you design the Real Estate property, lawn and garden of your dreams.
