Navy Federal is hiring 450-600 new people in 2012
That should be great news for Nature Trail Pensacola property values.
Spurred on by record-setting growth, Navy Federal Credit Union CEO Cutler Dawson expects to hire another 450 to 600 new employees this year.
Dawson, speaking at Navy Federal’s $250 million Heritage Oaks campus in Beulah on Friday, said the new employees are needed because of increased demand for services from the credit union’s 4 million members worldwide, including the 400,000 customers added in 2011.
In addition to the new full and part-time jobs pledged for 2012, Dawson said Navy Federal hired 700 employees last year, bringing its total payroll to 2,200.
The additional jobs would push Heritage Oaks’ four-building campus to within a few hundred jobs of its capacity of 3,300 workers.
And Dawson promised more good things to come for the Pensacola Bay area.
“All our future growth will be here in Pensacola,” he said. “We intend to fill this campus to capacity with our growth. We like it down here.”
Speaking of the community as a whole, Dawson said, “You have charmed us to come to Pensacola.”
While the jobs Dawson promised are largely the result of growth, they also are the result of a package of incentives being put together for Navy Federal, Pensacola Bay Area Chamber of Commerce CEO Jim Hizer said.
“The chamber is working diligently with Navy Federal to finalize incentives that are directly tied to their current job-creation plans,” he said.
The quality of employees, their work ethic and the training provided by local educational institutions, including the University of West Florida, have been primary drivers of the credit union’s growth over the past decade, Dawson said.
Among those attending the news conference were Escambia County Commissioner Wilson Robertson, Navy Federal Senior Vice President Debbie Calder, County Administrator Randy Oliver, Gulf Power CEO Mark Crosswhite, Pensacola Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Chairman Donnie McMahon and Hizer.
Robertson thanked Dawson for directing so much of the company’s growth to the Pensacola area and said the county wants to help facilitate future growth in any way it can.
Dawson also noted that Navy Federal was named to Fortune Magazine’s 2012 list of “100 Best Places to Work.”
“We’re on the list because we provide our employees with a good work environment and other benefits, and we intend to stay on the list,” he said.

Bristol Park is located in NorthWest Pensacola. The subdivision is accessible from Jacks Branch Road (County Road 97) just west of County Road 297A.

Bristol Park has a lot of advantages. It is a fairly large subdivision, which is great for walking and bike riding. The look of the homes varies, unlike many neighborhoods where it is obvious that one builder built all the houses. The majority of the subdivision has sidewalks.
While there is not a mandatory home owners association membership, all the homes and yards are very well kept. Bristol Park is also within just a few minutes of Interstate 10, which allows for short travel times to the most popular areas of Pensacola.
Bristol Park still has a few vacant lots on which new homes can be built. These lots are owned by Adams Homes and they are ready and willing to build.

Notice in the table that even though the average price of homes sold in 2009 was higher than 2008, the average price per square foot was down about $2. The average price increase was just the result of several higher dollar homes that sold in Bristol Park in 2009. 2008 was a dismal year in Bristol from a Days On Market standpoint. But that appears to be improving.

This article provides a Pensacola real estate market report on the Logan Place subdivision. There is no map available for Logan Place, as it is a brand new subdivision. However, I clipped a map from the area and indicated where Logan Place is on the map by the red thingy. There are many vacant lots still available in Logan Place, and the homes that are currently built are extremely beautiful stucco homes, both in contempory and two-story styles.
Although not common knowledge, I have learned that the builder, Adams Homes, is offering a $10,000 price reduction to buyers on existing homes in Logan Place. This offer is for a limited time (I don’t know exactly how long this offer will be in place. Maybe through April, but don’t quote me on that. You would be better off calling me and letting me see what kind of deal I can get for you.)
