Here is an update for this post, from an article in the Pensacola News Journal

Navy Federal is hiring 450-600 new people in 2012

That should be great news for Nature Trail Pensacola property values.

Spurred on by record-setting growth, Navy Federal Credit Union CEO Cutler Dawson expects to hire another 450 to 600 new employees this year.

Dawson, speaking at Navy Federal’s $250 million Heritage Oaks campus in Beulah on Friday, said the new employees are needed because of increased demand for services from the credit union’s 4 million members worldwide, including the 400,000 customers added in 2011.

In addition to the new full and part-time jobs pledged for 2012, Dawson said Navy Federal hired 700 employees last year, bringing its total payroll to 2,200.

The additional jobs would push Heritage Oaks’ four-building campus to within a few hundred jobs of its capacity of 3,300 workers.

And Dawson promised more good things to come for the Pensacola Bay area.

“All our future growth will be here in Pensacola,” he said. “We intend to fill this campus to capacity with our growth. We like it down here.”

Speaking of the community as a whole, Dawson said, “You have charmed us to come to Pensacola.”

While the jobs Dawson promised are largely the result of growth, they also are the result of a package of incentives being put together for Navy Federal, Pensacola Bay Area Chamber of Commerce CEO Jim Hizer said.

“The chamber is working diligently with Navy Federal to finalize incentives that are directly tied to their current job-creation plans,” he said.

The quality of employees, their work ethic and the training provided by local educational institutions, including the University of West Florida, have been primary drivers of the credit union’s growth over the past decade, Dawson said.

Among those attending the news conference were Escambia County Commissioner Wilson Robertson, Navy Federal Senior Vice President Debbie Calder, County Administrator Randy Oliver, Gulf Power CEO Mark Crosswhite, Pensacola Bay Area Chamber of Commerce Chairman Donnie McMahon and Hizer.

Robertson thanked Dawson for directing so much of the company’s growth to the Pensacola area and said the county wants to help facilitate future growth in any way it can.

Dawson also noted that Navy Federal was named to Fortune Magazine’s 2012 list of “100 Best Places to Work.”

“We’re on the list because we provide our employees with a good work environment and other benefits, and we intend to stay on the list,” he said.

Nature Trail is located on over 700 acres of woodlands with over half of that designated for preservation. I can speak from experience that Dave Taylor and the Nature Trail management team are hands on and are making sure that the property remains in as much of a natural state as possible by preserving any trees that do not need to be removed for building. These policies are  keeping the area looking fantastic for someone who wants to have a sense of seclusion, but still desires access to wonderful amenities including   swimming pools, tennis courts, a fitness center, meeting facilities, a lodge, gated entry, parks, walking trails, running trails and more.

Nature Trail Site Plan

Although the development got of to a slow start due to the decline in the Pensacola Real Estate market, it is now poised to become the fastest growing real estate development in the Northwest Florida area due to the rapid expansion of the nearest large employer, Navy Federal Credit Union. The beauty of having Navy Federal as a neighbor is that its company policies fit perfectly with Nature Trail’s green philosophy.

When Navy Federal Credit Union opened a state-of-the-art-facility in Pensacola, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification was still relatively new in Florida. Dubbed the “Pensacola Project,” the credit union achieved the honor of being the first LEED Gold-rated project, and as it has expanded, it has maintained those high energy efficiency standards.

Currently Navy Federal is negotiating to buy additional land to expand its campus and hire more workers. As the Navy Federal Pensacola workforce expands, some will choose to live in Nature Trail and help stabilize the neighborhood. In our current unsettled economy, it is a huge benefit for value to have a very large, well employed workforce living within walking distance of a neighborhood, especially if it is a very environmentally friendly facility like Navy Federal.

In response to the favorable prospects for Nature Trail, D.R Horton, the largest homebuilder in America has started to build in Nature Trail, bringing their affordable designs in to the development to compliment the other fine builders already in business there.

 DR Horton Patio Home

Some of the Dr Horton patio homes have broken the $200,000 plateau and are currently listed at $189,900. This price  should keep a monthly payment, including HOA dues, below $1300. This  is very affordable real estate pricing considering the extremely high quality of the development

Update!  This D.R. Horton Pensacola home in Nature Trail has gone under contract, but many other floorplans are availble from D.R Horton, Classic Homes, Paragon, and K.W. Homes in Pensacola’s Nature Trail.

These builders build some of the best homes in the Pensacola Real Estate market and have both standing homes, and new home plans ready to be built!
