Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa finds himself at the center of controversy after extending Christmas wishes to his Christian wife, Juliet Ejue, on social media. The footballer’s well-intentioned gesture sparked criticism from some members of the Muslim community, who took issue with his expression of holiday greetings.

Musa, who married Juliet in 2017 as his second wife, hails from Ogoja, a local government in Cross River, Nigeria. The couple’s union, which began after Musa‘s reported separation from his first wife, Jamila Musa, has been enduring and fruitful, resulting in the blessing of children.

In the festive spirit, the football star took to Twitter to share a heartwarming Christmas message, accompanied by a picture of his radiant wife donning Christmas-themed pajamas. Musa’s caption read, “Compliments of the season. This festive season, I pray that you experience true joy and peace and may things of celebration never cease from your household. Merry Christmas to you all.”

While the message seemed innocuous and well-intentioned, a section of the Muslim community criticized Musa for participating in a Christian celebration, leading to a social media backlash. Some Muslims condemned the footballer for what they perceived as a departure from Islamic norms.

It is essential to note that Musa‘s gesture was a personal expression of love and goodwill towards his wife during the holiday season. In an era of diverse cultures and interfaith unions, public figures like Musa often face scrutiny for their actions.
