Early Life & Education

Aitana Ocaa Morales, the talented Spanish chanteuse and thespian extraordinaire, was born and graced this world with her presence on the 27th of June in 1999. She hails from the charming hamlet of Sant Climent de Llobregat, nestled in the verdant hills of Spain, and was blessed to be the only child of her loving parents, Cosme Ocaña and Belén Morales. Her childhood was spent in the quaint towns of Sant Climent de Llobregat and Viladecans, where she was groomed to become a star.

In 2017, Aitana shot to national fame when she participated in the revival series of the outstanding Spanish reality television talent show Operación Triunfo, where she displayed her impeccable musical prowess and enchanting stage presence, securing the second spot.

Her love for music began when she was merely a lass of 15, and she started uploading her soulful covers of popular songs to YouTube. She made a name for herself with her melodious voice, and in the same year, she published her original tracks, which left listeners awestruck.

The songstress then teamed up with the talented Ana Guerra to produce the sizzling single Lo Malo, which became an instant chartbuster and a strong contender to represent Spain in the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest. The track was a runaway success in Spain, where it debuted at number one and remained there for several weeks, cementing Aitana‘s reputation as a bona fide star.

Her mercurial rise to fame earned her a 360o record deal with the legendary Universal Music, and she went on to release her debut solo single, the enchanting Teléfono. The track was a commercial triumph and broke several streaming records, catapulting her to even greater heights of stardom.

In 2019, Aitana entered the music world with her debut studio album, Spoiler, which garnered a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Pop Vocal Album. The accompanying concert tour was a smashing success, gracing numerous indoor stadiums across Spain, and even produced a video album, Play Tour: En Directo. Following this triumph, she continued her creative pursuits and released her second album, 11 Razones, in late 2020, which included two top-five songs, Más by Cali Y El Dandee (Cali & el Dandee) and Corazón Sin Vida by Sebastián Yatra.

But Aitana‘s talents don’t stop there! She also made her acting debut in 2022 on the Disney+ original series La Última, where she not only acted but also composed the soundtrack, showcasing her versatility as an artist.

She is a force to be reckoned with in the music industry and has proven her ability to dominate the Spanish music scene with four number-one singles in her home country: Lo Malo, Teléfono, Vas a Quedarte, and Mon Amour.

It’s worth noting that Aitana‘s journey to stardom was challenging. After finishing her bachillerato studies in 2017, she was accepted to study design at the university. However, fate had other plans for her, and after taking selectividad, she decided to audition for Operación Triunfo at Ciudad Universitaria in Madrid, where she was chosen for series nine the competition, launching her illustrious career.

Aitana competed in the musical reality show Operación Triunfo in October 2017. She competed to represent Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 with two songs: Arde, which she performed alone, and Lo Malo, composed by Brisa Fenoy and performed as a duet with Ana Guerra. The former song came second, while the latter came third. Even though the public did not choose Lo malo to represent the country, it became an instant hit in Spain, topping the charts for five weeks and being certified 5 platinum.

From March through December 2018, Aitana embarked on a co-headlining tour with her Operación Triunfo bandmates. In July, the vocalist released her first solo single, Teléfono, to mixed reviews. The song became her first solo number-one hit. It topped the charts for six weeks in a row and was certified platinum four times. Teléfono was included in Tráiler, her debut extended play, which was published on November 30, 2018. The EP contains six original songs, one of which was written in collaboration with Venezuelan-American vocalist Lele Pons. The EP’s second single, Vas a Quedarte, was released a week later. It became her third number-one hit in Spain and was nominated for Best Spanish Song at the 2019 LOS40 Music Awards. It was written by the Colombian band Morat.

Aitana published an illustrated book, became a Stradivarius ambassador, participated in a Coca-Cola Christmas campaign, appeared in Skam Espaa, and introduced Bad Bunny alongside Lele Pons at the 19th Annual Latin Grammy Awards.

In March 2019, Aitana began teasing her debut studio album, which was supposed to be a new EP and the second trilogy installment. The singer announced the following month that she would embark on an intimate promotional concert tour sponsored by Los40. The singer confessed that she had changed her mind during the tour’s first stop in Barcelona. She was no longer planning to release another 6-track EP but a whole album.

She revealed the album’s title, Spoiler, and hinted at its release date, saying it would be out at the beginning of summer.

In April, Aitana worked with Morat on Presiento. In May, she worked with former One Direction member Zayn Malik on a reworked version of A Whole New World for Disney’s Aladdin live-action film. She released Nada Sale Mal, the lead single from her upcoming debut studio album, on May 17, 2019. It charted at number four in Spain and was certified Gold. On June 7, 2019, the album was published digitally and physically.

Aitana was nominated for Best New Artist at the 20th Annual Latin Grammy Awards for her performance on Mi Persona Favorita, which she sang alongside Greeicy Rendón, Nella Rojas, and Alejandro Sanz. Later the same month, Me Quedo, her collaboration with Lola Indigo, was released as the album’s second single. It debuted at the top of the charts, was certified Gold in its first week, and was nominated for a Latin Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2020 ceremony.

The spoiler was reissued on December 20, 2019, with five acoustic versions of her songs and a tour documentary comprising images from her shows in Madrid, Barcelona, and Granada. It is only available in physical stores and not on digital platforms.

The performance was recorded for the video album Play Tour: En Directo and the Movistar+ television unique Play Tour: Tras las Luces, both of which will be released in 2020. From June through December 2019, the singer Aitana embarked on her first concert tour to promote the Play Tour record, which included 27 events. A tour extension dubbed the + Play Tour was scheduled for 2020 but was canceled owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Personal Life

In 2018, Aitana broke her relationship with childhood boyfriend Vicente Rodrguez and began a romantic connection with Operación Triunfo colleague Luis Cepeda, which sparked much debate owing to the 10-year age difference. They split up in September 2018.

Aitana started dating actor Miguel Bernardeau in late 2018. They will live together in a €750,000 Madrid home in September 2020. Aitana and Miguel Bernardeau split up in December 2022, less than two weeks after the debut of Our Only Chance, a short series for Disney+ in which they co-starred.
