Early Life And Education

Alice Cooper, also known as Vincent Damon Furnier, was born in Detroit, Michigan, on February 4, 1948. His upbringing was heavily influenced by his father, a Pentecostal minister, and his religious background instilled in him a sense of theatricality and drama.

However, it also sparked his eventual rebellion against conventional norms. At 12, he moved to Phoenix, Arizona, and attended Cortez High School, where he actively participated in school activities and served as the yearbook editor.

He was raised by his parents, Ella Mae and Ether Moroni Furnier, and has one sibling, Nicola Crandall. His yearbook quote, “A million record seller,” hints at his early ambition and success in the music industry.

Career

Alice Cooper is a highly influential musician who began his musical career in high school with a band called the Earwigs. In 1968, the band changed their name to Alice Cooper and adopted the persona of Alice Cooper on stage.

The band’s debut album, “Pretties for You,” was released in 1969, but it wasn’t until their 1971 album, “Love It to Death,” that they achieved commercial success.

This album featured hit singles such as “I’m Eighteen” and “School’s Out.” Alice Cooper is known for his theatrical and shocking stage shows, often featuring themes of horror and violence. His famous stage props include guillotines, electric chairs, and fake blood.

His music is often described as a mix of hard rock, glam rock, and heavy metal, and some of his most popular songs include “Billion Dollar Babies,” “Poison,” and “No More Mr. Nice Guy.”

The original Alice Cooper band broke up in 1974, but Vincent Furnier legally changed his name to Alice Cooper and continued to perform as a solo artist.

He has released over 20 solo albums, many of which have been commercially successful. He has also won numerous awards, including a Grammy and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.

However, some critics argue that his shock rock persona and controversial performances have hurt the music industry. Despite this, Alice Cooper remains a highly influential and popular artist known for his unique stage presence and musical talent.
