Bocelli was raised on a farm in La Sterza, a village in Tuscany, Italy, where his family sold farm machinery and produced wine. His mother and brother still reside in the family home, while his father passed away in 2000.

Education

He completed high school in 1980. Although he didn’t have formal music training, Bocelli’s musical interest began at a young age, when he started piano lessons at 6.

Afterward, he self-taught various instruments like the flute, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, guitar, and drums.

He improved his singing abilities by performing and learning from mentors such as Luciano Pavarotti and Franco Corelli.

Bocelli later obtained a law degree from the University of Pisa, using technology such as Braille computers and translation software to help him with his studies.

Career

Andrea Bocelli, the famous Italian tenor, has a career as impressive as his voice. Despite losing sight at a young age, Bocelli has achieved great success in opera, becoming one of the top-selling classical artists globally.

His journey exemplifies his passion, dedication, and undeniable talent. A crucial moment in 1992 happened when Luciano Pavarotti, a renowned tenor, heard and was impressed by Bocelli’s demo recording of “Miserere,” which led to a push for Bocelli to pursue a professional singing career. This event marked the start of Bocelli’s rapid ascent in the music world.

Bocelli rose to fame in Europe with his debut album “Il mare calmo della sera” in 1994, followed by the 1995 album “Bocelli” which featured the hit song “Con te partirò” (later known as “Time to Say Goodbye” in English) with Sarah Brightman, propelling him to global stardom.

Over his career, Bocelli has released numerous albums in classical, pop, and crossover genres, collaborating with artists like Celine Dion, Christina Aguilera, Josh Groban, and David Foster to reach a wider audience.
