Former two-time unified heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua showcased a dominant performance, securing a decisive five-round victory over Swedish southpaw Otto Wallin. The win marks another step in Joshua‘s journey to reclaim the top spot in the heavyweight division.

Joshua‘s prowess was evident as he systematically dismantled Wallin, forcing the corner to make the difficult decision to pull him out of the contest after enduring five punishing rounds.

While Wallin had previously given Tyson Fury a competitive fight in 2019, he could not withstand Joshua‘s relentless assault. The British boxer exhibited solid technical skills and a relentless pursuit of a finish from the opening bell.

Joshua‘s authority was emphatically stamped in the fifth round as he connected with a powerful right-cross-left hook combination, inflicting significant damage on Wallin.

This fight marked an unusual position for Joshua, who, from 2016 to 2022, had exclusively participated in world championship contests. Facing Wallin in his third consecutive non-title bout, Joshua aimed to return to championship class after victories against Jermaine Franklin and Robert Helenius earlier in the year.

Joshua remained focused despite talks for a potential two-fight deal with Deontay Wilder in 2024, disrupted by Joseph Parker‘s upset victory over Wilder on the same bill in Riyadh. The fighter demonstrated serious intent from the opening bell, showcasing sharp jabs, powerful right crosses, and a relentless offensive strategy.

Working with trainer Ben Davison for this bout, Joshua emphasized that this was not a throwback fight but another day in the office. After leaving his previous trainer, Rob McCracken, following a loss to Oleksandr Usyk, Joshua‘s dynamic partnership with Davison proved effective.

Reflecting on his performance, Joshua stated, “I can’t grade my performance. My performance team will judge me, and the fans at home will have much to say, so I’ll leave it up to them. It’s not a throwback fight, just another fight. It was just another day in the office. All I want to be is victorious for as long as possible.” Joshua‘s commitment to success remains unwavering as he continues his journey back to the pinnacle of the heavyweight division.
