Veteran actor Anupam Kher has joined the band of celebrities criticizing Richa Chadha’s tweet on the Galwan conflict.

The tweet, which received backlash from various quarters, was deemed ‘shameful’ by Kher. This incident follows similar condemnations by Akshay Kumar, Ashoke Pandit, Kay Kay Menon, and others in the film industry.

Chadha had deleted her tweet after facing calls for a boycott on social media.

The Controversial Tweet

Richa Chadha’s tweet responded to Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi of the Northern Army Command’s statement regarding Defense Minister Rajnath Singh’s comments on regaining Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

“Galwan says Hi,” Chadha said, referring to the fight between Indian and Chinese soldiers in the Galwan Valley, which resulted in the deaths of 20 Indian soldiers.

Anupam Kher’s Response

Taking to Twitter, Anupam Kher expressed his disappointment in Chadha’s tweet, labeling it as ‘shameful.’

He criticized her attempt to gain popularity by badmouthing the country, stating that such actions are cowardly and characteristic of small-minded individuals.

Kher further pointed out that putting the army’s honor at stake is even more disgraceful.

Richa Chadha’s Apology

In response to the backlash, Richa Chadha issued a public apology. She acknowledged the emotional impact on families when their loved ones are martyred or injured while defending the nation.

Chadha emphasized that she understands the gravity of the issue and expressed regret for her initial tweet.

The Importance of Army Honor

Anupam Kher’s criticism of Chadha’s tweet highlights the significance of upholding the honor and respect of the armed forces.

In times of conflict, it is crucial to stand united as a nation and avoid derogatory remarks that could undermine the sacrifices made by soldiers.

The Power of Social Media

This incident once again underscores the power of social media in shaping public opinion.

Chadha’s tweet sparked outrage among netizens, leading to calls for her boycott. It serves as a reminder that celebrities must exercise caution and sensitivity when expressing their views on sensitive matters.

Promoting Peaceful Conversations

To clarify her stance, Richa Chadha shared a statement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, wherein he emphasized the importance of peaceful dialogue between India and Pakistan.

This gesture highlighted the need for constructive discussions rather than inflammatory remarks.
