Early Life & Education
Avril Lavigne, the iconic musician, was born to Jean-Claude Lavigne in Belleville, Ontario, Canada, on September 27, 1984.
Avril‘s parents, Judith-Rosanne Loshaw and Jean-Claude Lavigne spotted her outstanding vocal aptitude when she sang Jesus Loves Me on their way home from church when she was two.
Avril Lavigne was raised with an older brother, Matthew Lavigne, and a younger sister, Michelle Lavigne. Avril completed her secondary education at Napanee District Secondary School in Napanee, Ontario.
Career
Avril Lavigne discovered her passion for singing from a young age and showcased her talent at nearby fairs and festivals. Her dedication paid off when she triumphed in a competition, allowing her to share the stage with Shania Twain. Recognizing her potential, Arista Records signed her to a two-album recording deal when she was just 16 years old.
Let Go, the first album by Avril Lavigne, was launched in 2002 and achieved a tremendous commercial triumph, with a global sales record of over 16 million copies. The album gave rise to multiple popular singles such as Complicated, Sk8er Boi, I’m with You, and Losing Grip. Notably, Let Go is the top-selling album of the 21st century among Canadian artists.
Released in 2004, Avril Lavigne‘s second album, Under My Skin, achieved considerable commercial success by selling more than 10 million copies globally. In contrast to her debut album, this album had a darker and more introspective tone. It included popular tracks like Don’t Tell Me, My Happy Ending, and Nobody’s Home.
In 2011, Avril Lavigne released her fourth album, Goodbye Lullaby, which showcased a different musical direction than her earlier works. This album embraced a more acoustic and folk-oriented sound. Although it did not achieve the same commercial success as her previous albums, critics praised Goodbye Lullaby for its mature and evolved sound.
2013, Avril Lavigne released her fifth album, returning to her pop-punk origins. The album included popular tracks like Here’s to Never Growing Up and Rock n Roll.
In 2019, Lavigne released her sixth album, Head Above Water, which marked her return to the music scene after a hiatus of five years. This album was greatly influenced by Lavigne‘s struggle with Lyme disease and included powerful tracks like Head Above Water, Warrior, and I Fell in Love with the Devil.
In 2022, Avril Lavigne released her seventh and latest album, Love Sux. This album returns to her signature pop-punk style and includes exciting collaborations with Machine Gun Kelly, Mark Hoppus, and Travis Barker.
