Carey Price was born on August 16, 1987, in Anahim Lake, British Columbia, to Lynda, Jerry Price, and his sister, Kayla.

Carey began to skate on the river next to his house when he was two years old, and he spent countless hours outside with his father and friends over the next few years. Even though he spent much time on the ice, Anahim Lake had no indoor rink or hockey program.

At nine, he began playing organized hockey at the nearby arena in Williams Lake, British Columbia. The 640-kilometer round-trip drive to Williams Lake for games and practices was required thrice weekly. Carey’s father had a pilot’s license, so when the weather was beautiful, they could fly back and forth, but most of the time, they had to drive. Carey has always had a natural affinity for animals and the outdoors as the son of Jerry, whose family is a farmer and rancher in Alberta, and Lynda, whose family is a rancher and hunting guide-outfitter at Anahim Lake.
