Early Life & Education

Christopher Ashton Kutcher, currently 45, was born on February 7, 1978, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

He was raised in a “relatively conservative” Catholic family, with his mother Diane Finnegan Kutcher working at Procter & Gamble and his father Larry M. Kutcher, a factory worker. Kutcher has Czech, German, and Irish ancestry, reflecting his diverse heritage.

Kutcher grew up with an older sister named Tausha and a fraternal twin brother named Michael. However, their childhood was not without challenges. Michael had a heart transplant at a young age and also lived with cerebral palsy.

Dealing with his brother’s health issues caused stress in Kutcher’s home life, and he often kept himself busy to distract from the difficulties.

At the age of 13, Kutcher even contemplated suicide to save his brother’s life but was dissuaded by his father. This experience shaped Kutcher’s perspective on life and drove him to make the most of every opportunity.

Kutcher attended Washington High School in Cedar Rapids before his family relocated to Homestead, Iowa, where he attended Clear Creek–Amana High School.

During high school, Kutcher developed a passion for acting, participating in school plays, and showcasing his talent on stage.

However, his teenage years were not without trouble. In his senior year, Kutcher and his cousin broke into their high school in an attempt to steal money, resulting in his arrest.

This incident led to legal and social repercussions, affecting his relationships and prospects.

Despite these challenges, Kutcher remained determined to pursue his dreams. In August 1996, he enrolled at the University of Iowa with a planned major in biochemical engineering, motivated to find a cure for his brother’s heart ailment.

However, his path took a different turn when he was approached by a model scout at a bar in Iowa City. This encounter led Kutcher to participate in the “Fresh Faces of Iowa” modeling competition, where he emerged as the winner and earned a trip to New York City’s International Modeling and Talent Association Convention.

Ashton Kutcher’s personal life has been a subject of public interest throughout his career. He has been in two high-profile marriages, the first with actress Demi Moore.

The couple married in 2005, but their relationship divorced in 2013. Following his split from Moore, Kutcher began dating his former That ’70s Show co-star Mila Kunis.

The couple tied the knot in 2015 and welcomed two children: daughter Wyatt Isabelle Kutcher and son Dimitri Portwood Kutcher.
