Dolly and Carl initially met at the Nashville laundromat Wishy-Washy. It was also Dolly‘s first day in Music City. Carl passed by in his white Chevy vehicle while 18-year-old Dolly was doing her laundry. He came to a halt to warn her that she would get sunburned in her exposed attire.
He struck up a discussion with her as she went inside to fold her clothing. His sincerity and authenticity blew her away.’He looked at my face and was curious about who I was and what I was about,’ Dolly Parton has been reported as saying.
According to Parton, Carl looked directly into Parton‘s eyes during their talk, which was unusual for her. Carl‘s mother wanted a spectacular wedding ceremony for the two, but Parton was restricted by her music contract, which required her to wait before walking down the aisle.
