Eagles Address Enjoyment Amidst Wins, Jalen Hurts Defends Stoicism

Philadelphia, PA – As the Eagles geared up to face the Arizona Cardinals, quarterback Jalen Hurts found himself defending the team’s demeanour after victories. The discussion around the Eagles’ apparent lack of exuberance post-wins has surfaced frequently this season, with players acknowledging they haven’t always met their performance standards despite securing victories.
After the Eagles’ 33-25 win against the Giants last Monday, Hurts maintained his composed stance and was asked about deriving enjoyment from a win. In response, Hurts invoked the wisdom of offensive line coach and run-game coordinator Jeff Stoutland, stating, “Winning is the only thing that matters. If not, like Coach Stout says, you might want to check your saliva. That’s why we play this game. We play this game to win. We play this game to learn through our experiences because those are probably more valuable than any win or loss.”
The Eagles, heading into the game against Arizona, aimed to find joy in their performance, echoing Hurts‘ sentiments.
In other news, the Eagles announced they’re inactive for the game. Notably, cornerback Avonte Maddox returned to the field for the first time since Week 1, replacing veteran CB Bradley Roby, who was inactive. Left guard Landon Dickerson and linebacker Nicholas Morrow also made their comeback after missing one game each. However, CB Darius Slay and LB Zach Cunningham were ruled out due to injury.
The Eagles faced former defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon, who is now with the Cardinals. Gannon received mixed reactions from Eagles fans, with his replacement, Sean Desai, making headlines in the past month.
Lastly, Eagles fans were treated to favourable weather conditions for the game against the Cardinals, with partly cloudy skies and a high of 45 degrees forecasted for the last afternoon of 2023. The weather and the Eagles’ performance set the stage for an exciting end to the year.
