Murray Matravers, who began composing music at 14 and served as the primary songwriter for his band, encountered Oliver Cassidy and Sam Hewitt during college, igniting a shared passion for music that led to the formation of a trio.

The band’s lineup was solidified by including Lewis Berry and Jordan Birtles. Throughout their formative years, Easy Life dedicated themselves to honing their craft, melding elements of alternative indie pop with jazz, hip-hop, and soul influences to craft a unique musical identity.

Career

In 2019, Easy Life achieved a significant breakthrough when their track Pockets was featured on the FIFA 19 soundtrack, propelling them to newfound popularity. The song soared to number 14 on the UK Singles Chart, marking a milestone for the band. Additionally, they unveiled their second mixtape, Junk Food, during the same year.

The momentum continued into 2020 as Easy Life released their debut album, Life’s a Beach, which debuted at number two on the UK Albums Chart. Garnering acclaim from critics, the album solidified the band’s position in the music scene. Furthermore, Easy Life clinched victory in the BBC Sound of… poll, further cementing their status as rising stars.

However, their journey faced a hurdle when easyGroup, the owner of easyJet, filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against them. In response, Easy Life decided to change its name in October 2023. The band officially announced their final performances under Easy Life, scheduled for October 20th and 21st.
