Mariah Carey and her longtime boyfriend, Bryan Tanaka, have decided to part ways after seven years together. The exclusive scoop from TheCityCeleb reveals that Tanaka‘s strong desire to start a family is the primary reason behind the split.

According to an insider, the 14-year age gap between the 54-year-old Carey and the 40-year-old Tanaka became a pivotal factor, as Tanaka expressed aspirations for parenthood that did not align with Carey‘s current life priorities. The source emphasized, “He wants to have a family. That’s not where she is at.”

While Mariah Carey is already a mother to 12-year-old twins Monroe Cannon and Moroccan Cannon, whom she shares with ex-husband Nick Cannon, Tanaka, a backup dancer, has yet to experience fatherhood.

The renowned “Fantasy” singer and Tanaka had been inseparable for seven years, raising eyebrows this week when Carey embarked on her annual solo trip to Aspen, Colo., sparking speculation about their relationship status.

Notably absent from Carey‘s recent “Merry Christmas One and All!” tour, which kicked off in November at the Yaamava Resort & Casino in Highland, Calif., Tanaka seemed to be taking steps toward establishing his own path in life. Sources close to the couple affirm that Tanaka wishes to “start having his own life.”

Fueling further speculation, Carey shared with People earlier this month that she had a challenging year, expressing her anticipation for the upcoming Christmas season. “I’ve been looking forward to this Christmas for the whole year. Since last year — because last year wasn’t the greatest,” she disclosed, adding that she plans to “have fun” during the 2023 holiday season, regardless of the challenges that may come her way.
