Some saw her second marriage to Kayode Salako as a home wrecker and a gold digger. Some people accused her of snatching Kayode Salako from his first wife, a pastor, and of being after his money and fame.

She also faced some backlash from some of her fans, who felt that she betrayed her Christian faith by marrying a Muslim.

She defended herself by saying that she did not break any home and married Kayode Salako out of love and mutual respect. She also said she did not abandon her faith and respects her husband’s religion.

Her involvement in the Save Nigeria Group (SNG) was a coalition of civil society groups and activists that protested against the misrule and corruption of the government in 2010.

She was arrested and detained by the police for participating in the protest and was accused of being unpatriotic and inciting violence.

She denied the allegations and said she was exercising her constitutional right to freedom of expression and association. She also said she was fighting for a better Nigeria for herself and her children.

Her alleged affair with the former governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, was reported by some media outlets in 2015. She was said to have received gifts and favours from the governor and been seen in compromising positions with him.

She denied the rumours, said she had no relationship with the governor and only met him once at a public event. She also said that she was happily married to her husband and that she had no reason to cheat on him.
