Net Worth
When Howard Hughes passed away in 1976, his net worth was initially believed to be around $2.5 billion. However, a valuation presented in court the following year indicated that his actual wealth was significantly lower, amounting to just $163.8 million.
This vast difference can be attributed to Hughes‘ reliance on borrowed funds to finance his assets and accumulated substantial debts. Furthermore, his estate faced substantial inheritance taxes that needed to be paid, further depleting his overall net worth.
