He served as CEO from 2006 to 2008, then returned to the role in 2015 and stayed until 2021. However, in May 2022, he resigned as CEO and stepped down from the board, citing the need for new leadership and a desire to focus on his other company, Square.

In addition to co-founding Twitter, Jack Dorsey also co-founded Square in 2009. This financial services and mobile payment company revolutionized how merchants could accept credit card payments by developing devices and software that allowed transactions through smartphones or computers.

In 2015, Dorsey became CEO of Square and led the company to go public. However, in December 2021, the company rebranded to Block, Inc., and Dorsey stepped down as CEO in November 2022 but remains the company’s chairman.
