Manchester City has invested significantly in securing the talent of 14-year-old American prodigy Cavan Sullivan from the Philadelphia Union. The Premier League giants finalized the terms of the transfer, agreeing to pay approximately $2.1 million (£1.7 million) upfront for Sullivan, with additional bonuses potentially increasing the total fee to nearly $5 million. This move marks a substantial investment in a young talent who has yet to sign a professional contract.

Sullivan‘s journey to Manchester City began in the desert of Arizona, where he showcased his exceptional skills during the MLS Next Fest tournament. His performances caught the eye of scouts and garnered widespread attention, setting the stage for his ascent to the upper echelons of professional football.

However, Cavan Sullivan made his mark in Spain, impressing City scouts with a stellar performance for the United States Under-15s against England. His left-footed finesse, ball control, and self-assured demeanor left a lasting impression, leading to City’s pursuit of the young talent.

As part of the agreement between City and the Union, Sullivan will remain in the United States until he turns 18, at this point, he will be eligible to join the Premier League champions. Additionally, Sullivan holds a German passport, allowing him to train and play for a European club before moving to Manchester.

While City remains cautious about exciting Cavan Sullivan‘s potential, they believe he possesses the qualities to become one of the top talents in the sport. Despite his young age, Sullivan is expected to make significant strides in his development, with opportunities to gain valuable experience at both the MLS and European levels.
