A popular Nigerian singer, Mayorkun, took to Twitter to express his dissatisfaction with his recent experience in Calabar. Surprisingly, the artist, known for hits like Geng and Mama, announced that he may never return to the city.

Mayorkun tweeted, “CALABAR, You’ll probably NEVER EVER see me again; good luck to the other artists coming for your festivals.”

This cryptic statement sparked a flurry of reactions on Twitter, with fans and followers speculating on the reasons behind Mayorkun‘s decision. Some users mentioned an alleged incident involving the theft of Mayorkun‘s expensive diamond neckpiece during a performance in Calabar.

“Watin Calabar Pablos do Mayorkun no fresh oh, why they go gift am Fake Azul,” tweeted one user, suggesting a possible connection to the reported theft.

Others expressed curiosity about the details of the incident, with comments like, “Mayorkun does not want to talk wetin CALABAR people do am,” indicating a perceived silence on the matter.

The news of Mayorkun‘s diamond neckpiece being stolen added fuel to the discussions. Some users were sympathetic, while others questioned the authenticity of the chain and the artist’s reaction.

“Me patiently waiting for who thief Mayorkun Chain to talk says na fake chain,” tweeted a user, highlighting the scepticism surrounding the incident.

The situation took a more serious tone when Iyanya, another Nigerian singer and Calabar native, called on his fellow Calabar residents to address the issue. “Calabar people, wetin una do Mayorkun?” he questioned, suggesting a need for accountability.

Mayorkun‘s vow to never perform in Calabar again raises questions about the impact of the incident on his perception of the city and its events. Whether this decision will stand or if further details will emerge remains to be seen, but the Twitterverse continues to buzz with discussions about the acclaimed artist’s unexpected announcement.
