Career

Mick Lynch is a trade unionist who has dedicated his life to fighting for workers’ rights. He was blocked from construction work in 1993 for his union activities but refused to give up.

Lynch served two terms as Assistant General Secretary of the RMT and two terms on its executive. In 2020, he was appointed as the acting General Secretary but stood down after a few months, accusing members of the union’s national executive of bullying and harassment. He won an election for the permanent role of General Secretary in May 2021.

Lynch is a vocal critic of Brexit, which he believes has made it harder for workers to protect their rights. He has also been a strong advocate for renationalizing the railways, which he believes would improve the quality of service and give workers more control over their jobs.

Lynch has gained widespread attention for appearing in interviews and debates on the BBC, Sky News, TalkTV, and ITV.
