His mother never supported his decision to be a football as she had always wanted him to become a mechanical engineer.

However, it was not meant to be as the young lad was already engrossed in football.

His father, Salah Ghaly on the other, supported his development as a footballer and always taught him about the importance of four hours of training daily.

Career

Growing up, Mohamed Salah had a soft spot for football and played with his friends and neighbours. At first, he played just for fun until he was approached by a local club called El Mokawloon, situated in Cairo, the capital of Egypt.

His determination and focus on football were rewarded with a maiden invitation to the Egyptian National team in May 2010. At that time, he was just 18 years old.

Mohamed Salah wasn’t a regular at the national team level for the first few years until his game improved.
