Ondo State’s political landscape was rocked by the sudden demise of Paul Akintelure, an All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant, who passed away under mysterious circumstances. The news of his death, confirmed by the APC spokesperson in Ondo State, Alex Kalejaye, cast a shadow over the upcoming elections.

Dr. Akintelure‘s journey from a medical practitioner to a political contender took a tragic turn, leaving many questions unanswered. Just days before his untimely death, he voiced concerns about threats to his life, a chilling prelude to the tragic event that unfolded.

In a poignant statement released on March 21, his spokesman, Oladapo Akintelure, expressed the aspirant’s commitment to standing up for justice and unity despite the looming dangers. However, fate had other plans, ending his journey abruptly and leaving a void in Ondo’s political sphere.

The late Akintelure‘s political career saw him as a prominent figure within the APC, having previously contested in various elections, including as a deputy governorship candidate in 2012. His contributions to the party’s growth and the democratic process in Nigeria were widely acknowledged, earning him respect and admiration from colleagues and constituents alike.

Tributes poured in from across the political spectrum, with the Ondo APC expressing shock and sadness at his passing. Engr. Ade Adetimehin, the State Chairman, fondly remembered Akintelure as a personal friend and a dedicated leader whose impact would be sorely missed.

Similarly, the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organization Foot Soldiers (LACO-FS) mourned the loss of Dr. Paul Akintelure, highlighting his invaluable contributions to Nigerian politics and democracy. In a gesture of respect, they suspended their activities to honor his memory and support his grieving family.
