Early Life & Education

Sheck Wes, born Khadimou Rassoul Cheikh Fall on September 10, 1998, in Harlem, New York, is a rapper and songwriter of exceptional talent. He grew up in a Muslim household with parents who had emigrated from Senegal to the United States. His father worked as a tailor in Harlem despite his limited English skills.

After moving to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with his mother at age five, he spent nine years there before returning to New York at 14. During his troubled childhood, music became a way for Fall to deal with the challenges of his environment.

Despite his passion for basketball, which was his primary focus in high school, Sheck Wes caught the eye of a fashion scout, who convinced him to skip a playoff game and attend the Yeezy Season 3 collection presentation at Madison Square Garden instead—this pivotal moment marked the beginning of his journey to becoming a renowned rapper.

Personal Life

In January 2019, Ridge Productions accused Sheck Wes of failing to compensate them for the video of his upcoming single Mudboy. In retaliation, the company posted an edited version of the video that featured substituted audio ridiculing him and his entourage for their failure to adhere to the contract.

The following month, Sheck Wes was caught on video stalking his former partner, Justine Skye. This disturbing accusation was backed up by his former high school classmates, who claimed that he had displayed abusive behavior toward other women in the past.

In April 2019, Sheck Wes began dating India Love, and the two had a highly publicized dispute in June 2020. India Love posted an image on social media of a black eye that hinted at abuse by him following their breakup, which he has vehemently denied.

As a result of the serious allegations against him, Sheck Wes was removed from a promotional campaign for Major League Soccer, and Justine Skye reportedly requested a restraining order against him. Rapper GoldLink publicly rebuked and criticized him over the abuse allegations, and Sheck Wes was subsequently arrested on drug and gun charges in New York in May 2020.

A few months later, in March 2019, Sheck Wes continued his musical ascension with a new single called YKTS, which was released under the same record labels as his debut album. Following the launch of Mudboy, he shared that he was already producing his second studio album, a testament to his unwavering dedication to his craft.

The young rapper kept the momentum throughout the year, opening for Eminem‘s show in Hawaii in January 2019, before dropping two new tracks, Sadio Mané and Losing My Mind, on July 18th.

The next day, Sheck Wes was featured on Chase B and Young Thug’s Mayday. He then rounded off the year with an accompanying music video for YKTS on October 31st before making a guest appearance on JackBoys‘ Cactus Jack compilation album.
