Personal Life

Bebe Angel, the beloved wife of Prophet Uebert Angel, has a remarkable love story with her husband that began when they met in Harare, Zimbabwe when Bebe was just 18 years old.

They tied the knot on December 21, 2000, and their marriage has flourished for over 21 years. Bebe Angel is not just a prophetess and philanthropist; she is also a dedicated wife and the mother of four boys: Uebert Angel Jr., Levi Henoch Uebert Angel, Jude Eloi Uebert Angel, and Seth Uebert Angel, with her husband Uebert Angel. She also serves alongside her husband as a patron of the Uebert Angel Foundation, their charitable arm.

However, questions have arisen about Uebert Angel‘s true identity. Reports from a Zimbabwean newspaper suggest that he possesses two national identification cards with different birthdates, and his British Passport carries yet another birthdate, differing from the one used when registering his companies.

Uebert Angel has launched several ventures in the business sphere, but not all have thrived. Only two of the 20 companies he opened within two years remain active. His attempt to establish a bank in 2017 failed despite enthusiastic initial support from church members. He also launched a television news channel that was later exposed for using freelancers from a website called Fiverr. This news venture ultimately collapsed and was de-registered. His energy drink venture also folded under unclear circumstances.

Uebert Angel’s spiritual teachings have sparked both support and criticism. He has faced scrutiny for promoting prosperity theology, believing that financial and material prosperity is God’s will for devout Christians. Some accuse his ministry of indirectly promoting tithing and prosperity theology compellingly, much like other megachurches and televangelists associated with this doctrine.

Despite attempts to deflect allegations, Uebert Angel has been embroiled in various controversies and scams, leading to accusations of being a ‘fraudster’ or ‘false prophet.’ These allegations range from financial misconduct to sexual impropriety. Former congregants have accused him of sexual misconduct and coercing women into sexual acts, even alleging that he raped their wives.

The allegations also extend to a Bentley Continental, valued at over $300,000, allegedly obtained fraudulently. This led to speculation that Uebert Angel fled to the UK in 2015 to avoid arrest warrants issued in Zimbabwe regarding these accusations.

In a shocking development in March 2023, Al Jazeera’s Investigative Unit revealed an alleged misuse of diplomatic privileges by Uebert Angel in a global money laundering operation. This operation purportedly involved funneling illicit funds into Zimbabwe through Uebert Angel, which were exchanged for gold from Zimbabwean mines, ultimately leading to ‘clean’ money. Al Jazeera’s investigative reporters, posing as customers, recorded conversations with Angel that seemed to implicate him in this illicit exchange.

Amid these allegations, Prophet Jerome Fernando, appointed by Uebert Angel to lead the Glorious Church in Sri Lanka, vehemently denied the accusations and threatened legal action against his accusers. Notably, Uebert and Jerome met with members of the Mahinda Rajapaksa family during preaching sessions and received military protection under the Rajapaksa administration, adding a layer of complexity to the narrative.
