Victor Osimhen is one of the best strikers in world football right now. The Lagos-born forward has established a world-renowned reputation for his elite-level athleticism, speed, and finishing abilities.

Since leaving the Ultimate Strikers Academy in his native Lagos, Osimhen has greatly impacted European football. Currently, He plays for Italian Serie A side Napoli, having won the Scudetto in 2022/23.

It has been a real slog for Napoli and Osimhen as defending champions in 2023/24, though. They’ve failed to match last season’s overperformance and are now left scratching around to try and salvage some kind of European qualification. The Champions League looks highly unlikely, but they do have a shot at the Europa League, with the club priced at +160 for a top-six finish at the time of writing with Betano, which is a licensed online sports betting platform for Nigerians to speculate on all kinds of professional sporting events and leagues via desktop or mobile.

Early Career

It all started for Osimhen at the Ultimate Strikers Academy in Lagos. Although there is little information about the Ultimate Strikers Academy, it was a fantastic foundation for Osimhen‘s professional career. The Nigeria national team recognized him, as he led the line for the Super Eagles at the U17 World Cup in 2015.

Osimhen finished that tournament with ten goals in seven appearances, helping Nigeria to their fifth U17 world title. His performances alerted several of Europe’s top clubs to his undoubted potential.

German Bundesliga outfit VfL Wolfsburg were the ones most serious about signing Osimhen to professional terms. On 1 January 2017, Osimhen signed a professional contract with Wolfsburg following a successful trial period. He penned terms just three days after turning 18.

In 2017/18, Osimhen made 14 appearances for Wolfsburg, which only narrowly avoided relegation to the German second tier in a playoff. In 2018/19, Osimhen was loaned out to Belgian outfit Charleroi to get regular first-team football. He scored 12 in 25 appearances, which helped him catch the eye of French Ligue 1 side Lille.

Lille forked out €12 million plus add-ons to sign Osimhen from Wolfsburg, who seemingly had no appetite to develop the Nigerian themselves. He signed a five-year contract with Lille and immediately hit the ground running. He ended the 2019/20 campaign with 13 goals in 27 appearances in the French top flight.

Recent Achievements and Awards

In the summer of 2020, Osimhen made a life-changing move to the Italian Serie A. Napoli forked out a club-record €70 million fee to sign him from Lille, which landed a €58 million profit in the space of 12 months.

Osimhen was the most expensive African footballer at the time and remains so. 2022/23 was Osimhen‘s undoubted breakthrough year for Napoli. He ended the Serie A season as the top-scoring Nigerian in the history of the Italian top flight, breaking Simy’s previous record of 31 goals. He finished the season with 26 Serie A goals, ending the campaign as the league’s top scorer while helping his team to a historic Scudetto. He also won the CAF Best African Player of the Year in 2023.

His form earned him a contract extension with Napoli, which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2026. Osimhen‘s contract has a release clause of €130 million. This season, he became only the third striker to score at least ten Serie A goals in four successive seasons.

Social Media

Osimhen is very active on social media. His X, formerly known as Twitter, account has over one million followers. He has regularly posted images and motivational phrases on this account, clearly the bedrock of his meteoric rise to stardom.

Osimhen‘s Instagram account is even more popular, with over 3.7 million followers catching a glimpse of his life inside and outside of football.

Net Worth

It takes a lot of work to estimate Osimhen‘s net worth. However, if he remains with Napoli for his extended contract, it would be worth approximately $27 million. He is comfortably worth between $10-$15 million already without even reaching the peak of his career, with many comparing him to Kylian Mbappe, who is at a similar age.

Personal Life

Osimhen has a long-term girlfriend, Stefanie Kim Ladewig. Ladewig is a social media influencer, cheerleader, and part-time model.
