The Nigerian music scene delighted the global audience; two of Africa’s biggest music stars, Wizkid and Davido, engaged in a heated online battle on the social media platform X yesterday. The virtual showdown, which unfolded on April 29, 2024, saw the two artists trading barbs and throwing shade at each other, leaving fans and critics on the edge of their seats.

The feud began when Wizkid, in response to a fan’s request for new music, took a subtle jab at Davido by sharing a video of the latter allegedly in tears following rumors of a romantic involvement with an American model. This move was met with a swift and fiery retort from Davido, who accused Wizkid of experiencing a mental breakdown and needing medical help.

Wizkid and Davido exchanged more personal and scathing attacks as the battle escalated. The Starboy went as far as labeling Davido and his crew “delusional niggas,” dismissing their musical prowess and claiming they lived in a world of self-deception. In a display of defiance, Davido fired back, accusing Wizkid of being a “sick man” and expressing his regrets about helping to resurrect Wizkid‘s career only for it to “die again.”

The online feud between the two music titans quickly gained traction on social media, with fans and celebrities taking sides and weighing in on the drama. Some fans criticized Davido for engaging in the feud, while others condemned Wizkid‘s behavior. Celebrities such as Samklef, a Nigerian music producer, and Tunde Ednut, a Nigerian blogger, also joined the fray, crediting Wizkid for pioneering the path for Davido and others in the industry.

Amid the back-and-forth, Nigerians dug out evidence to support Davido‘s claim that Wizkid is a woman beater, citing a post from Jada P, Wizkid‘s partner, in 2019, where she accused him of domestic violence. Jada Pollock dismissed the allegation, claiming her social media accounts were compromised. Despite the seriousness of the allegations, the online battle between the two stars continued to rage on, with no signs of either party backing down.
