Growing up in Zola 7 was no walk in the park, as the township was plagued with social ills such as alcoholism, unemployment, and single motherhood. His father, Dlamini, was one of the many fathers who had abandoned their families, leaving his mother to single-handedly raise him, his older brother, and his sister.

Despite the odds stacked against them, Zola 7‘s mother was the epitome of resilience, working tirelessly to provide for her family and taking on both parental roles. Under her guidance, he honed his craft as a poet and musician, with music serving as a cathartic outlet for him to express his feelings and connect with his audience.
